About Nellie Martin-Giles Dressage

Nellie Martin-Giles is a certified USDF instructor with more than 25 years of competitive dressage experience both as an amateur rider and as a professional trainer.

Nellie has had a life long passion for the sport as evidenced by her experience. She has been riding horses since the age of eight from formal lessons in western, hunter/jumpers, then completely focused in the sport of dressage for the past 20 years.

Nellie's lessons are built around a belief that training should be a personally customized experience, however, all lessons are built on the core principles of the dressage training scale. She believes that lessons must be informative and enjoyable for both horse and rider. She continually encourages communication between the rider and her so that the training experience is clear, thoughtful and as helpful as possible.

Nellie also helps students find the appropriate horse to reach their goals, whether it be for competition or a horse to learn and ride for enjoyment.

Many of Nellie's students have gone on to earn their USDF medals and continue to work with Nellie to adjust their program to meet their changing goals.

During Nellie's amateur career and early part of her professional career she trained with Rachel Saavedra. She currently works regularly with Heidi Gaian and clinic consistently with Joh Hinnemann.
